Mr. Vikas Arya

Vikas Arya is a 1990 batch Indian Railway Service officer. A Mechanical Engineer by profession, he joined the Railways at the age of 17 thru the Special Class Railway Apprentice exams. He has served Indian Railways in various capacities, working mainly on operations and maintenance. He has been conferred with 2 National Awards for outstanding services by the Govt. of India.

He has vast experience in Production planning, Scheduling, Disaster management, evolving customer strategies, Scenario thinking & Innovation and has a keen interest in heritage conservation. His unique initiative to conserve and preserve Railway heritage by reviving Steam Locomotives and resurrecting a120 year old maintenance facility was recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India and won the National Tourism Award in the year 2011.

He is an avid reader, photographer, golfer and film maker, with two documentary films to his credit. He is presently working on his median Coffee table book on vintage Steam Engines named ‘Veiled in Vapor’.

He is presently serving as Director/Procurements and Social Service Marketing with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
